Created attachment 93184 [details] 2 example files - DOC and ODT I have received a document prepared in Microsoft Office and saved as DOC. Trying to open this document in Libre Office 4.2 I found it was possible to open the document, but the content of the document was not visible. Same document was possible to open in Kalligra Words and the contents of the document was very well visible and usable. I am expecting the import filter for DOC may be defective or broken in the last version of Libre Office. Also I believe this must be a critical problem as makes impossible to use important documents created in the MS Office legacy DOC format. Please see the attached ZIP file. Consist a DOC and a ODT example files. The DOC file is made from the mentioned above file where I changed the original content with some kind of Lorem ipsum on Bulgarian. The ODT version has been made after the original document was opened by Kalligra Words. I used this ODT to prepare the attached DOC from the original document.
Hi Kasimir, thanks for reporting. I can confirm the problem. However it is linked to this specific file. Opening in LibreOffice 3.3.4 already does nog show the text. Playing around a bit with the margin of the header does at some time show text. When I open the .odt in 4.2.0.4 and get rid of the wron positioned drawing objects and the frame in the header (that by the way all are not visible in the Navigator), and save and .doc then.. then after reopening all text is visible. So maybe you are interested to find out what specific element in the header (or combination, or maybe the anchoring) triggers this behaviour?? Set severity to normal because it's for sure not a general problem of the .doc filter. regards, Cor

(In reply to comment #2) > Created attachment 93192 [details] > doc file from 4.2.0.4 after first cleaning the header before saving as .doc Dear Cor, I am really surprised how you manage to made this document visible! Agree to make the case medium. It will be nice if some one may change the appropriate filter to open such files. As Kalligra Words is opening such files, it seems to me solution may be possible. With best regards,

repro 7.0+ Interesting bug. I used Office 2003 to save it as .docx (which opened fine in LO), and then used Office 2003 to save the docx back as a .doc (in order to avoid any possible file corruption). The same problem of a "blank" page was seen in LO 7.0. OK. This is super bizarre. I changed the page format to landscape - which didn't affect anything. But then I did UNDO, and then most the text appeared... So this is just layout related?
