Inserting Calc data into a Writer document as a DDE link (using Paste special) creates a table within the Writer doc. When one has to deal with big documents containing dozens of Writer native tables and a few DDE links, one can't visually distinguish the standard tables from the DDE-link ones. It would be useful to be able to know from the UI when a table is not a standard one. This could be some visual clue associated with the table in the text, and/or a special marker in the Navigator, for instance.
I think this is a worthwhile enhancement request. Confirmed. Status set to NEW.
Hi I agree with this demand. In the meantime I can suggest you to use the macro provided on the wiki: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Macros/Writer/002/fr Regards Pierre-Yves
I also miss editing/insight capabilities. It's unclear to what exact cell a value belongs. As for the feedback it would be nice to show the data like fields - and make it read-only.
One solution might be to show it like fields. And since DDE values are always inserted as content of a linked table and regular table formulas like =1+1 don't have a clear feedback either (bug 85754 and bug 147233) we could introduce a special background (and make it editable via formula bar only). Another option is to adopt the value highlight concept from Calc and color the inserted text.
