Description aurimas.dev 2014-03-01 03:28:50 UTC
Created attachment 94926 [details]
ZIP containing two .doc files as described in the description

Steps to reproduce (attaching file "FromWord.doc" that has undergone steps 1-4):
1. In Microsoft Word, open a new document.
2. Insert a footnote with text "12345". Highlight "3" and insert Bookmark. Name it "test".
3. Save file in .doc format. Close and re-open in Microsoft Word
4. Verify that the bookmark is still set on the number "3" (this is a bit broken in MS Word, since it doesn't seem to be possible to jump to a bookmark in a footnote): Positing the cursor anywhere and open the Insert Bookmark dialog, "test" will be listed; close the dialog and delete the number "3" from the footnote; open the Insert Bookmark dialog, "test" will no longer be listed. Close the document without saving changes.
5. Open the .doc file in LibreOffice, press F5 and double-click the "test" bookmark.

Observed result: Number "4" is highlighted.

Expected result: Number "3" should be highlighted.

I think there is also an issue when writing the bookmark to a .doc file from LibreOffice, because if steps 1-4 are carried out in LibreOffice, the result of step 5 is that number "5" is highlighted. (file "FromLO.doc" is an example of this case)

confirming, but bibisect show this all the way back to pre-3.5 at d6cde02dbce8c28c6af836e2dc1120f8a6ef9932, thus likely not a regression. Also tested with ODT, which doesnt show the issue (all the way back to pre-3.5).

Looks like an off-by-one error in reading and writing bookmarks each in the *.doc filter

Repro 6.5+ for DOC. Selection is somewhat right to original. Seen better if there are more words is footnote. So I change to trivial.
DOCX is fine.

Dear aurimas.dev,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
