** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.4.3 or later) https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results; 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. Confirmed with Selection. Defining the slide works ok. Win 7 Pro 64-bit Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha1+ Build ID: 3ecef8cedb215e49237a11607197edc91639bfcd TinderBox: Win-x86@62-merge-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2015-06-19_23:16:58 Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI)
Not sure if "selection" in pdf export dialog means what you think. If you select an object in a slide and export as pdf choosing selection, then you get a pdf document containing only the object you selected. For me the choice "selection" is intended to work the same way it works for graphic export. Does somebody can confirm or infirm my thought ? Exporting a list of selected slides (choice #2) works well in LO 5.0 branch. Best regards. JBF

JBF Gosh, you are right! If I select an object before PDF export, the "Selection" export option correctly exports only the slide with the selected object. Yet, that is highly unintuitive in the context! I think a use case of ctrl-clicking a selection of slides in the Slide Pane would be quite common. Compare this to ctrl-clicking objects in multiple slides: it is impossible! So in effect selecting an object and exporting as PDF "Selection" is the same as saying you want to export a single slide with the object. It is redundant. Yet another inconsistency: if we select an object, go to File - Export... tick selection in the file dialog and select PDF as the file type, the regular PDF export dialog appears. We then would have to again select "Selection", otherwise it produces a PDF with all the pages (the default option). Adjusted summary.
I download the last version 4.4.4.2 for Windows 7 Version 64. Open Libreoffice impress Create a doc with 3 slides Select 2 slices Menu/File/Export PDF Select selection export all the doc not the selection.
(In reply to Beluga from comment #5) > [...] > Gosh, you are right! If I select an object before PDF export, the > "Selection" export option correctly exports only the slide with the selected > object. In my tests, it export only the selected object, not the entire slide containing the selected object. Do you agree? For the sake of clarity, I think the pdf export dialog should have two excluding selection choices : 1/ selected slides 2/ selected graphic object(s) Note: when I try to export a selection of slides made in the slide sorter tab by choosing the radio button "selection", I get the following error message: Error saving the document [...]: Write Error. The file could not be written. No error message if I selected the slides in the slide sidebar. Best regards. JBF

JBF No, I don't agree. It exports the entire slide for me, both in 4.4 and 5.1. I've never seen the error you mention. (In reply to Antonello from comment #9) > This bug is related to (possible duplicate?) of > https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40163 Yep, the report seems to cover this as well. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 40163 ***
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #10) > Yep, the report seems to cover this as well. Yes, hidden in one comment, if I see this correct, but not clear. I set this issue to new, to have a clear distinct bug report.
We discussed the topic in the design meeting and recommend to add a dropdown at Selection with "Objects on Slide" and "Selected Slides".
