CONFIRMED.
Display corruption disappears once LibreOffice leaves Page Preview mode.

Thanks for the great repro steps, plus the before/after images!

Not reproduced on 3.3.0, but seems to have started before the start of the 43all bibisect repository (next oldest release I have handy is 3.5.6.2, where the bug is present). Also reproducible on OSX.

Setting:
-> Platform: All
-> Version: 3.5.6.2
-> Keywords: regression
-> Whiteboard: preBibisect

Still happens for me using latest Master.

Here are UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS with more details, just in case it matters:

  0. Use an X11 session (not Wayland)
  1. Open attached test.odt
     Set screen magnification to exactly 100%
  2. File->Print Preview
     Set Magnification to 65%
  3. File->Export As->Export as PDF and set the following options:

  Range: All
  Checked JPEG compression Qual: 90%
  Checked Reduce image res to:300 DPI
  Checked Export Outlines
  (all others unchecked)

  4. Make sure the file-chooser dialog overlaps the print-preview (if it doesn't happen anyway, as it does for me).

Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS with X11 session

Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 703fb7739a5e604d90e147db6f67917b8d141150
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

Calc: threaded
Comment 16 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2022-02-06 18:17:51 UTC
I confirm that I do not reproduce the problem, even with an X11 session under Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. The only difference I have with your version is the kernel version which is 5.13.

Why do you use a zoom at 65% in the preview? Is that the automatic value to see the whole page? For me it is 81%, but whatever the zoom level in the print preview is, I do not reproduce the problem.

Best regards. JBF
Comment 17 Jim Avera 2022-02-07 04:16:54 UTC
Hi Jean-Baptiste, I documented the zoom levels which happened to be in effect for me, just in case it was important. There is nothing special about those particular settings.

I'm stumped. Maybe the problem occurs only with certain screen resolutions and/or Gnome extensions.

My monitor is 1920x1200 which is fairly unusual.

Also I have the Gnome "Dash to Panel" extension installed, with the panel at the bottom of the screen (not the default left edge), with Panel thickness set to 48 pixels.

Can anyone think of how to figure out what is different between Jean-Baptiste's and my system?

Dear Jim Avera,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
