Created attachment 107050 [details] Warning 1946 Windows 7 x86 with LO 3.2.1 installed. run the installer for 3.2.2 (for an update installation) and on 'creating shortcuts' the installer brings Warning 1946 Property 'System.AppUserModelID' for shortcut 'LibreOffice Writer.ink' could not be set. as per attached screen grab. Once acknowledged, the install completes without problem.
I have to change this to UNCONFIRMED, because we need someone to reproduce the problem before setting to NEW.
I experienced this problem on Windows 7 AMD64 with a 4.3.4 installation; so, I checked around. This problem can appear on any edition of Windows 7 and is caused by the installation parameters. See Microsoft's KB 2745126.

Doesn't seem to have been an issue with the last few releases (5.x). Now on 5.0.4.2 no changes to Windows 7.
LibreOffice 5.0.4.2 on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
Hi, I had 5.4.1.2 installed on x86 Windows 10 Pro (now running version 1709), and I installed LibreOffice 6.0.1.1 from the .msi. During install I got almost exactly the same alert, "Warning 1946, Property 'System.AppUserModel.ID' for the shortcut 'LibreOffice 6.0.lnk' could not be set." different shortcut and it's happening on Windows 10. So I reopened this bug, hope that's OK. The Microsoft URL in this bug still only mentions Windows 7. https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/69110/how-does-the-following-warning-message-impact-use-of-the-application-i-got-it-during-installation-warning-1946-property-systemappusermodelid-for/ and http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice-4-1-4-2-install-problem-td4091803.html mention this warning.

Comment on attachment 140970 [details] Web page detail I had the same warning on windows 10. I just did some digging and it seems that it's just safe to ignore. The installation will work propertly. https://support.microsoft.com/es-es/help/2745126/warning-1946-message-when-you-install-a-windows-installer-package-in-w
The System.AppUserModel.ID property is available on all supported platforms (including Windows 7, and of course on Win10) [1]. So the cited page is not relevant here. I could try to guess a randomly corrupted user system (which would answer why the problem is only reported a few times, given millions of installations using MSI in these years). 2021-18-03 downloaded LibreOffice 7.1.1.2 for windows x86_64 (windows 7) and had the message: Warning 1946 Property 'System.AppUserModel.ID' for shortcut 'LibreOffice Writer.ink' could not be set. Acknowledged warning and install continued OK.
According to some Internet sources [1], this happens for shortcuts that were pinned to Windows Taskbar. [1] https://support.verbum.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016753971-Warning-1946-or-1909

Downloaded LO from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ Rec'd 'Warning 1946' upon installing LO7.2.5 just now (Feb 21 2022). The installation ran to completion and said "installed successfully" which is a bit confusing having been given a 'warning'. ;) How important is the warning to the correct functioning of the software? My PC runs W7 x86 Pro with Service Pack 1 build 7601. No probs running previous versions of LO over many years. Last version I ran was 7.1.8
