Hi, Step to reproduce:
- insert some text in writer
- Tools > Line numbering
- check Show numbering
==> Format drop down list is empty
If you click ok, numbering is displayed in the document with letters. See the screenshot attached.

Note that the screenshot I attached to the bug #84504 shows that the Format drop down list is populated with numbers. Sophie

Problem was not reproducible with LO 4.3.3.2 (Win 8.1).

Setting as duplicate of 86185 which is on New state.
