Description riesslibo 2014-11-22 12:08:46 UTC
In Writer in 4.4.0.0.Beta1 the behaviour of click action in the status bar for selection style changed. With every click the selection style moves to the next list item, thats very irritating, but I think it is a new wanted behaviour for the whole status bar.

More like a bug is, that if you have made a selection in the text and want to enhance it, and want to enhence it again (so enhance the selection step by step) it worked until V4.3 but not in V4.4

For reproduction the issue:

1) Open a new Writer document
2) wirte Bt and click F3 for expanding to a Blind text
3) select a text portion
4) Hover the mouse over the selection style, the tooltip says it is standard
5) Click in the status bar field for selection style, the drop down list open and the selection style "enhance" is marked and chosen (second one in the list)
6) click somewhere under the selection , the selection is enhanced
6) Hover the mouse over the selection style, "enhance" is shown
8) click somewhere wider under the new selection, the selection is gone

Expected behaviour:
in 8) the selection is enhanced again and again, the often I click not in the selection range in the text, like the tooltip says, until I click in the status bar and change the status with the click to the next item "additional" (which is irritating but I think a wanted behaviour).

Hi riesslibo,

Thanks for filing the bug. I had previously noticed this behaviour but forgot to file a bug for it. :D

confirm this bug. in 4.4.0.1 reproduce it.

ps: independent switching type selection by clicking on the appropriate field in the status bar very annoying

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.0.4 or later) https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT:

- Update the version field
- Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
- Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!
