LO 4.4 new sidebar graphic distortions

When working with the current LO RC on a dual monitor environment, I got distorted graphics regarding the toolbar of the new sidebar (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.4#Sidebar_changes).

Sometimes, while editing the document, the panel just jumps behind the new vertical toolbar and jumps back the other moment, sometimes the panel remains behind the toolbar. Tested in Writer only.

Hello Frank,

Thank you for submitting the bug. Could you let us know which linux distro, version and desktop environment that you are running as well as the libreoffice version number from the Help > About dialog.

Hello Jay,

I am using LinuxMint 17.0 Mate edition. My LO version is: 4.4.0.1
Build ID: 1ba9640ddd424f1f535c75bf2b86703770b8cf6f

FYI: My graphics card is an NVidia GT240 model, and I'm using the latest drivers.

Hi Frank,

Do you notice this same behaviour in the previous version of Libreoffice that you have/had installed?

Are you using the open source or proprietary drivers?

Hello Jay,

a happy new year to you and the marvellous LO team :-)

I am using the proprietary drivers, because the nouveau drivers did never work well for me. Version numer is 340.65, which is the latest one for my legacy card, afaik.

I never noticed any such behaviour with any LibreOffice version ever before.

Hi Frank,

Happy new year to you as well.

Does this behaviour only happen when you are running on dual monitor? Does it only happen when the sidebar is on the left side? Is there anyway to make it happen instantaneously as i have Mint 17 Mate that i can test it on.

Hi Jay,

with only one monitor attached to my computer, I am unable to reproduce the erroneous behaviour.

Concerning your question about whether the sidebar is left or right, there seems to be another issue:
When I move (dock) the sidebar to the right side of the LO window and open a new document, which opens in a new LO window, in that new window the sidebar suddenly is on the left side again. It also seems that I am unable to store the position of the (new) sidebar permanently: whenever I dock it to the right side, close LO, and start it again, the sidebar will re-appear on the left side.

Although, working with two LO windows, where in one the sidebar is on the left, and in the other window it's on the right side, the issues seem to be affecting the sidebar on the left side only.

Hi Frank,

Unfortunately i dont have a dual monitor, so i'll have to ask other QA members to have a look at this.

If it is possible, can you try testing the sidebar on an older version, so we can try and track down which version this problem has began in. You can get the 4.3 version from the website ( http://libreoffice.org/download/ ) or through the PPA ( ppa:libreoffice/ppa ).

Hi Jay,

for my dayly work I still use LO 4.3.4 (Version: 4.3.4.1 Build-ID: bc356b2f991740509f321d70e4512a6a54c5f243), but I never was aware of the fact that the sidebar was already available in this release...

I am able to reproduce the bug with this version. Can you tell me when the sidebar was first introduced, then I will test that release too. However, I can't promise to do the testing any time soon, because at the moment I'm quite busy... maybe by the end of the week.

This is a duplicate of bug 87419 -- UI widgets for sidebar(s) docked on the left side lose their attachment. See STR there.

It will also occur on single monitor setups and likely has nothing to do with graphics card drivers.
