Adding associated file-type icons to the left column (the space is already there!) of the drop down menu would be a great enhancement, and add visual clues for the user. This would be a UI match to the New->drop-down menu of file types. Locations: * Standard Toolbar->Open->drop-down menu->left side * File Menu->Recent Documents->left side
Let's submit this to the design think tank!
Good idea. +1 BTW: a numbered list, really? Probably to have kind of static accelerator keys, but I'd like to challenge the idea.
Thanks, Heiko. I'll set to NEW, then :)

BTW Let me put my two pennies :) If this enhancement will be sometime implemented, I predict appearing of such kind of bug: document in the list of recent is unavailible (remote disk is off or doc was removed), but LO still tries to find filetype (via shared-mime-info e.g.) and freezes... So in this case LO should only look at extension
QA housekeeping and going to dupe this out to bug 94169 --Open split button recent document list should show icons next to entries-- as that is tracking the UI implementation. That is which icon to actually assign based on last used, and how to restructure the MRU list history to provide that detail. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 94169 ***
