Dear all, I have continuous problems printing on labels. The problem started somewhere in 4.x, but still exists in 5.0.0.5. It happens under Windows XP and under Windows 7. The labelprinter is Godex G530 (connected via LAN). XP uses a Godex driver, Win7 uses on-board driver. The problem already happened with a CAB A4+ labelprinter, but this is not in use anymore. Other windows applications do print well. In the Godex printer dialog there is a label of 70 mm x 45 mm defined. Start draw and open a new sheet. Set page size to 7 cm width and 4,5 cm heigth (unprintable area remains 1 cm). Put a text "test" into the middle of the page. Now select "File" "Print". Select the Godex printer. The preview looks good (there were problems with the preview in 4.x). Now hit "OK". The printer will make a short feed and beeps. No printout. When I now change the size of the label in the printer dialogue (heigth 46 mm), then I have no preview (it shows 1 mm x 1 mm), but the printout is correct. When I change the heighth to 45,5 mm, then I have a preview and can also print. I expect there is some kind of rounding inaccuracy, maybe the printer driver itself is the problem. But I am wondering why other windows applications (also Open Office) do print well. It would be great if somebody could take a look at it because as two different printers have the same problem, it seems that this is a general problem and also it is a disadvantage comparing with Open office that prints well. Thank you! Klaus
Sorry, I forgot a detail that might be important: both, XP and Win 7, are 32 bit versions!
@Winfried is there anything you can do for this user?
(In reply to tommy27 from comment #2) > @Winfried > is there anything you can do for this user? Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation. AFAICS this problem is with the draw module and a specific (type of) printer. Unfortunately, my relevant 'expertise' is limited to the labelwizard, which has nothing to do with printing and labelprinters. Consequently I will not be able to fix this myself. It would be interesting to know if the problems also occurs with writer and/or calc on this printer. Knowing that will make it easier to fix (although one would need access to such a printer to properly test). Klaus, would you be willing to test with daily builds if a developer has an opportunity to come up with a probable fix?
Might well be a problem of page settings (Format > Page) in Draw and the format in the printer (and the printer driver...) @Klaus: did you try that? And there is an option in the print dialog (tab Options) to only use settings from the printer (causing you trouble when you want to use it to change the page orientation - so that you are warned ;) ) Do you have a sample document too? thanks! Cor

Really sorry for not coming back to this earlier. In the meantime I changed to Win7 pro 64 bit, use a different printer driver and the problems are all gone. I cannot tell what the problem really was as this change was not planned at all and had to proceed quickly. The only remaining problem I have with LO are the annoying dots around shapes in printouts with LO draw.
(In reply to Klaus Müller from comment #8) > The only remaining problem I have with LO are the annoying dots around > shapes in printouts with LO draw. You can create a new report for the dot issue, if you want.
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #9) > You can create a new report for the dot issue, if you want. There are already plenty of complaints and bug reports for this issue, but it is not solved for some years (!) now. My colleagues use OO because of this issue, I use LO because of better import/export functions. There was the information that OO will be discontinued. We will have a big problem then as we need clean printouts. BTW: the "dot issue" was something that appeared with OO some years ago, but was solved quickly.

It would be very valuable to know.. I tried searching our Bugzilla for: - dots / spots in components Draw and Printing & PDF export - shape in Printing & PDF export but was unable to find anything

My original report was bug 66146, this was merged with 37559 (I created a new one because I also did not find 37559). Really annoying bug that prevents my colleagues from using LO. Whenever I have something to print from draw, I ask them to print it for me. My main application is impress, so I am not that much affected by this bug. BTW: first bug report for 37559 is more then five years old now, still unsolved.
