Description Telesto 2015-08-22 13:15:01 UTC
A 'beach ball' will appear for 15-20 seconds when a new Libreoffice Writer Document is created if - in between - sleepmode was activated

1. Open Libreoffice Writer; blank document is sufficient
2. Activate sleepmode
3. Wake Mac again
4. Create a new document (CMD + N) or click new document in the menu bar
5. The new opened document will be unresponsive for 15-20 seconds (beachball appears).

The other Libreoffice applications are note affected as far I know. I'm working on MacOSX El Capitan PB5, but same problem did occur with Mavericks

Bug needs confirmation before being marked as NEW.
Status -> UNCONFIRMED
Comment 2 Alex Thurgood 2015-10-12 09:54:51 UTC
Can not confirm on OSX 10.10 with LibreOffice 5.0.2.2

1) Open blank Writer document
2) Click on Apple menu, then Suspend...
3) Wake machine from sleep, enter password
4) When desktop is redisplayed, on which LibreOffice Writer document is open, click on Cmd-N
5) A new Writer document opens almost instantaneously.

No repro of problem here.

@telesto: if you are doing this a different way to that which I have described in my steps, please elaborate.

The problem still persist at my end. At the moment I'm using LibreOffice 4.4.5.2
with Mac OS X 10.11.1 PB1 (15B17c)

1. Open Libreoffice Writer; blank document is sufficient
2. Click on Apple menu, then Suspend...
3. Wake Mac again (I'm using spacebar; no password set)
4. When desktop is redisplayed, on which LibreOffice Writer document is open, click on Cmd-N
5. A new Writer document opens almost instantaneously
6. When using the toolbar for this new Writer Document (immediately after opening) - for example clicking on 'view' - a beachball appears for +/- 10 seconds (at my end). Same happens when I would start typing some text.

I think I have found the problem in my example. There must be more opened documents.

1. Open Libreoffice Writer, create 10-15 blank documents
2. Click on Apple menu, then Suspend...
3. Wake Mac again (I'm using spacebar; no password set)
4. When desktop is redisplayed, on which LibreOffice Writer document is
open, click on Cmd-N
5. A new Writer document opens almost instantaneously, but isn't responsive. When using the toolbar for this new Writer Document (immediately after opening) for example clicking on 'view' - a beachball appears for +/- 10
seconds (at my end). Same happens when I would start typing some text.

I set version to the earliest one you reproduce the bug.

did you try resetting the user profile?

Thanks for the advise to reset the Libreoffice profile. Didn't make a difference though.

Hi telesto!

My MacOSX 10.8.5, LO 5.0.4.2

Your steps do not show any problems. It seems that your system is over garbaged. Try to restart the whole system to get effect.

No bugs.

Hi Bookman900,

I don't agree. Problem is still present with MacOSX El Capitan, not Marvericks. and LibreOffice 4.4.7.2 (at my end). Reboot/ remove config didn't help. It's more or less related to bug: 92898. Using Libreoffice 5.0.4.2 & El Capitan 10.10.1 it's a different story. Beachball's don't appear anymore.
