KDE crashes too often with system dialogs (https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-37380 / 34614 / 38585), and only inbuilt file dialogs are used therefore. But the option "[ ] Use LibO dialogs" remains active and unchecked. Please check and disabled it so the user gets a clear feedback.
Are you asking to change the default option. From unchecked -> checked??
(In reply to Carlos Rodriguez from comment #1) > Are you asking to change the default option. From unchecked -> checked?? Please mark this checkbox as checked and set its state as disabled so the user gets a clear feedback (inbuilt dialogs are used and cannot be changed).
We talked about this on #libreoffice-design channel, this is a valid request (albeit not so easy to fix). If kde4 vcl plugin is loaded, but kde4 file dialogs are disabled at build time (because libqt4 this version of LibO was build against is buggy), the user has no choice but to use generic file dialogs. As a result, the related checkbox shouldn't be active (as there's really no alternative choice of other than generic file dialogs) and it should indeed be checked to indicate the fact that this is the current and the only choice
(In reply to Katarina Behrens (CIB) from comment #3) > but kde4 file dialogs are disabled at build time They disabled at runtime, not at build time (although the configure script warns about it).
> They disabled at runtime, not at build time (although the configure script > warns about it). Eh bleh, sorry 'bout confusion, configure warning made me believe this is a build time story

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.1.6 or 5.2.3 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. Closing my own ticket as WONTFIX. Tinkering with a replacement to native dialogs is always doomed, and we plan to retire this feature (or probably strip down every non-essential function), see bug 114484.
