Description Jeenu Viswambharan 2016-02-09 18:12:39 UTC
I had previously asked this question here https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/63175/libreoffice-calc-crashes-login-session/, but didn't receive any replies. I'm pasting the problem description here:

I've a fresh installation of Linux Mint 17.3 MATE edition, and along with it came libreoffice (1:5.0.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty2). My entire login screen crashes if I open Calc. Other programs like Writer appear to start up at least, but Calc brings down the entire login session. A suggested workaround that I found on the Internet was to use SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk localc, but that didn't help either. I'm not sure if and where I can pick any logs of the crash, but if somebody can point me to that, I'm happy to share that.

Can you please ask for debugging help on the MATE forum: http://forums.mate-desktop.org/

I found debugging instructions for caja, but not for your "login": http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/applications:caja

Please test with 5.1.1, which will be released soon. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel/Linux

Also, did you get debugging help from MATE?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Just tested the release candidate, and it still makes the session crash.

My post on MATE forums has't received any answers yet: http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3680&p=11436

I launched soffice from a tmux session, to which I attached after logging in again after the crash. The last message I could see there was 'X IO Error'.

Could you please provide the information asked in http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3680&p=11436 ? Meanwhile, setting it as NEEDINFO
