Description equi+bugzilla 2016-02-21 00:50:08 UTC
On the far right in Writer, there is a sidebar containing some options (Properties, Styles & Formatting, Gallery, Navigation). It can be collapsed, in which case it is replaced by a small arrowed button which will restore the sidebar if clicked.

The problem is that the sidebar and button are to the right of the scrollbar. If I move the mouse to the far right of the screen, I expect to be able to scroll, without having to watch the mouse cursor in detail. Since there's something else at the extreme right, I find myself showing the sidebar instead.

Scrolling is a far more basic, frequent and important operation than showing and hiding the sidebar. (Personally I've never once used the sidebar!) Could the scrollbar be moved to the far right so that it can easily be accessed without conscious user attention? Perhaps move the sidebar to the immediate LEFT of the scrollbar?

that's why I disabled the sidebar :-)
