Description libreoffice 2016-03-28 16:42:39 UTC
Running latest Fedora 23 with Gnome 3 using the open source nvidia drivers

When adding a video ( mkv in this case ), the video was bigger than the presentation screen. The video I was using was 1080p and my presentation was set up as 16:9. The video offsets for top and left were negative values and the width and height were greater than the size of the presentation screen. When playing the slide from design mode the video played ok. Playing in presentation mode crashes gnome-shell.

When I resized the video layout to fit the presentation screen, everything worked great.

Single slide with one embedded video

Sorry for the delay. Been a little busy.
I've just created a fresh impress presentation with a youtube rip inserted on the first slide.

Steps to reproduce:

Open Impress
Select Format -> page
Choose Screen 16:9
Click ok
Click Blank slide layout icon
Click audio or Video icon
Select mkv video ( 1280 x 720 ) ( VP9 + AAC ) in this case
( the earlier video I tried was x264 + Dolby 5.1 )
Press F5 to run presentation

Crashes shortly after. The attached file was created using the instructions above.

I can reproduce something similar on 5.3.0.3. While it doesn't always crash, sometimes it will just go into a weird mode when the presentation mode is started. It doesn't show the background slide and it will leave a static video. The only way to exit is by pressing so that the presentation finishes.

It can be reproduced only by creating a presentation and adding a video.

Please try with a recent version, and if it still crashes, attach a file with embedded video, this only links a video, doesn't contain it.
