Description Meauro 2016-12-19 13:26:23 UTC
Description:
When creating a pivot table, it is created in a new sheet within the work folder. Each time a pivot table is generated, Calc creates a new sheet. Since the majority of users tipically need at least 2 or 3 pivot table on a sheet, it should be possible to cut & paste pivot tables both within a single sheet both among sheets in the same wotk folder. Today it is not possible while in Microsoft Excel is ordinary business. This flexibility enhancement would be appreciated by all users worldwide..

Actual Results:
When creating a pivot table a new sheet containing the pivot table is created.
The creation od further pivot tables generate further new sheets.
At the moment in CALC it is not possible to create pivot tables in an existing sheet.
Furthermore it is not possible to MOVE or COPY the pivot table inside the existing sheet. The only way to move the position of the pivot table (which is always positioned at the top left corner (cell A1) is by adding rows and columns before the table..

Expected Results:
Often, when using pivot tables, it is needed to view multpile views (= pivot tables) in the same sheet in order to evaluate the data or build up for other uses. Microdoft Excel allows to create pivot tables anywhere in a sheet and also to build up a new pivot starting form an existing one.
I believe that would help all users (from novice to experts) to allow CALC to:
- move or copy a pivot WITHIN the same sheet once is created
- move or copy a pivot AMONG sheets in the same work folder
- create a new pivot starting from an existing one

The implementation of these enhancements could help many people to migrate from MS Excel to Libreoffice..

Reproducible: Always

Would it be enough to close your report as duplicate of bug 34107?

Create the pivot table on the same sheet it's as simple as when on the pivot table loyout, selecting source and adding destination range on selection.

The same can be do it to move the pivot table.

A workaround to copy the pivot table is copying the sheet to a new one, move the pivot table and delete the last created temporal sheet.

So only copy the pivot table in a direct way is not implemented.

nice enhancement request.
Especially with larger data sets, that one wants to see various options easily side by side (above/below ;) )

Note: it is allowed for Diagrams, and useful there indeed.
