Created attachment 144690 [details] Contextmenu with Header there are some bugs like Bug 119581 where was written that contextmenu could be improved. One idea is to have on top of the context menu an header with direct formating stuff (like MSO had). So the right click is more effective than now.
I don't think it will be possible to implement, as we use native menus under gtk3 and macOS, which means that their appearance and behavior are mostly out of our control.
Good to know. Firefox has the mix in there context menu.
Very nice idea, Andreas. Firefox came to my mind in the first place. But also MSO and Autodesk products use with context menu directly available commands to shorten mouse ways for the user (so that the user hasn't go up to the main menu or toolbar to activate command). If it's technically possible, I see no problem in the fact that our control about the visual appearance is limited. Good QA helps. My only displeasure: As style user and as not liking direct formatting, I don't like the idea of make it easier to use such direct formatting stuff. Hopefully this commands will be configurable as context menu text items today.
Microsoft has a so called mini toolbar sometimes shown above the context menus. It's one of the most hated features since this toolbar also pops up unintentionally when hovering over text. But the idea itself makes sense. I'm pretty sure we have made a statement to this feature but don't find the right ticket. Might be that we didn't want it as a MSO specific control.
Heiko, do you mean Bug 46836 - Add a quick access toolbar (like citrus fizz, mini toolbar)?
Andreas, what's the reason for closing this bug?
(In reply to Thomas Lendo from comment #6) > Andreas, what's the reason for closing this bug? Not clear which commands and there is no implementation that work on all platforms.
