Description Hermann Rochholz 2018-12-15 14:30:46 UTC
I know it's unspecific, sorry.

I work as an IT teacher and my pupils have to insert Object- also write a formula.

And I they have chosen in Writer: Insert Object -> Formula -> and then they had to insert an example and they had to modify it.
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
And nearly ALL pupils had the problem with adistorted formulas: not enough space und the "c" was overprinting over the "=". A catastrophy in a class.
Or the formula had a height of 10 cm.
They use Win10

Lateron I wanted to reproduce and I went to exactly this computer under a differen account.
New Document-> Insert Object -> Formula -> Example a^2 + b^2 = c^2 -
And everything looked perfect! Waah!
And the boy, who had horrible problems,
reopened the document- it looked perfect, too.

What's going on there?

The thing:
When I personally wrote formulas with LO Writer in mAth I had a similar effect ( I also work as math and physics teacher).
It seemed to happen when much is introduced into the document before.
I havo no real idea... I use Win7 - not Win10.

I thought also it was caused by importing from MS word (see bug 42723).
But my class wrote a writer document. There was no import from word.

And therefore I have NO example to place here.
Because when document is re-opened it looks fine.

Kind regards
Hermann

Herrmann, do you think it is the same bug, that is described in bug 122099?
Comment 2 Hermann Rochholz 2018-12-16 20:49:32 UTC
Yes- the basic error looks exactly similar.
I was not able to reproduce because it's vanished when re-opened.
Therefore I cannot send an example.

Furthermore I had also a vertical overlap (square roots overlap brackets)
and partially the formula has a height of far more than 5 cm.
It was hapopening at the boys computer and I had the same problem before.
Maybe the bug reports can be merged.

Kind regards
Hermann
Comment 3 Hermann Rochholz 2018-12-16 20:52:52 UTC
Furthermore when I Open the example document and open the formula and close it- the distortion is away.
In my documents this is NO WAY to make the error vanish.
One can click a dozend times on the error. And it is always there.
