Description Harald Koester 2019-01-03 13:48:38 UTC
In order to reproduce the bug:

[1] Create new text document.
[2] Display Navigator: F5.
[3] Insert 2 shapes, e.g. rectangles: Insert > Shape > … Two drawing objects with the names Shape1 and Shape2 are displayed in the Navigator.
[4] Select both shapes: Click and then Shift-Click.
[5] Group shapes: Right-Click > Group > Group. No drawing object is displayed any more. Expected: A default name should be assigned to the group and this name should be displayed in the Navigator.
[6] Select group.
[7] Name group: Format > Name… The dialogue Name is displayed. Insert name. Then OK. Now the name of the group is displayed in the Navigator.

Bug also exists in Calc.

Bug already exists in version 3.3.0, therefore inherited from OOo.

Comment 2 Gerhard Weydt 2019-01-03 14:54:27 UTC
To be more precise concerning Calc and to add the same problem for Draw and Impress:
There even the inserted shapes don't get a default name, Hence:
- In Calc, Impress and Draw shapes (and possibly other objects) should be given a default name.
- in Writer, calc, Draw and Impress groups shouzld be given a default name.
I set the status to NEW, which Dieter omitted.

Repro Writer bug

CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18362; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Comment 5 sdc.blanco 2020-04-10 13:43:12 UTC
It appears that this patch resolves the problem for Writer
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/87996

In Draw and Impress navigator shows the shapes in hierarchical relations.

Could not get any shapes to show up in Calc navigator.

Maybe this is WFM now?

Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
