Adding UX into the loop.
The new effects are extensions to the file format and MSO Word, for example, cannot show glowing edges. Do we attach those at styles? And the effects are not limited to Draw/Impress where we do have a drawing style but also available in Writer. Do we allow the border around paragraphs to glow? If yes, I suggest to have transparency, shadow, glow, and soft edge under one "Area Effects" tab. Challenging task.
Created attachment 180871 [details] Mockup Glow and Soft Edge added to the previously Shadows now Effects named tab.
We discussed the topic in the design meeting. A question was whether we can omit the "Enabled" checkbox for shadow in favor of zero distance (similar to the other options). But that makes it impossible to quickly switch on/off with a default. And in the end we could also introduce the checkbox at Glow and Soft Edge.
