Description Callegar 2021-09-19 13:35:45 UTC
Description:
It looks like impress support some features that are inaccessible from its UI.

A notable example is the fact that certain slide layouts appear to be perfectly supported in LibO, but cannot be generated using LibO itself, but only used in LibO by producing slides in powerpoint as pptx, importing them in LibO, saving as odp and then using the slides as libreoffice presentations.

An example of this is provided by the attached presentation where the first page layout includes three fillable textual elements disposed asymmetrically.

With the master pages features of LibO, it is impossible to obtain an odd number of fillable elements of this sort, which behave like auto-layout elements but are not really interpreted as such in LibO.

This issue seems to be caused by limitations in the master page UI functionality and is probably strictly related to bug 132941.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached presentation
2. Create a new empty presentation
3. Try to obtain something as in 1. using only LibO

Actual Results:
It is impossible to do point 3.

Expected Results:
LibO should let one add extra autolayout elements to a slide as powerpoint does. Interestingly if one does it in powerpoint, then LibO can import the powerpoint slides with such elements.

Reproducible: Always

I think this is essentially the same feature request as bug 62332 FORMATTING: enhancement: enable selection of various slide layouts in a master slide

which is also a prerequisite of PPTX interoperability to import custom layouts that are attached to different master slides - see bug 144459 for an example.

Sorry for the noise, I originally thought it was a different thing because in addition to letting one modify the pre-existing layouts this is about adding new layouts to the pre-existing ones (e.g. a layout with 3 fillable areas does not originally exist in LibO).
