Created attachment 197079 [details] Examples of the two theme issues If I set my system theme to Dark and set LibreOffice Appearance Mode to Light, I am unable to read text from dialogue boxes. The same is true for Light system and Dark LibreOffice.
@Heiko, Stephane--are you experiencing this issue with system colors for LO dialogs on your macOS systems? There was bug 154381 and dupes at play with the macOS DE "increase contrast" in use, seems similar. For OP, are you working with macOS with Preference -> Accessibility -> Display -> 'Increase Contrast' in use?
Increase Contrast is currently turned off.

Confirming with Light system theme and Dark LO theme on: Version: 24.2.5.2 (AARCH64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: bffef4ea93e59bebbeaf7f431bb02b1a39ee8a59 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.0.1; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded In the above combination of themes, the text content of message boxes is almost unreadable, except for selectable objects such as buttons. If I set Light system with Light LO theme, then text and dialogues become all but invisible. For an extreme example, cf. enclosed screenshot

Well, it requires a restart (and not just to close the current module). You also need to restart on Windows to get everything working. Ideally the option is applied directly or we show the "restart required" dialog.

Yes that is true, but on Windows the in session theme change over seems more complete, and niggles that require restart of LibreOffice have less impact. Yes "Ideally" applied directly, but reasonable to at least warn that close/reopen may be needed for full color theme toggle.
