Description Ulrich Windl 2025-01-20 08:29:51 UTC
Description:
I realized a problem with broken cross references to chapter headings after reorganizing them (i.e.: move them around, and change the levels of some):
In the main text the to be replaced text is just set to an error message using the style of the body text, so it's every easy to miss those (e.g. in German: "Fehler: Verweis nicht gefunden"). Also you cannot search for that text.
Even in the navigator there is no indication which cross references are broken.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move chapter headings around or rename tables to break cross references

Actual Results:
It's very hard to find the broken cross references

Expected Results:
It should be very easy to find broken cross references.
For example the navigator could highlight broken cross references, providing tools to re-link them.
In the text error messages about broken references should be styled differently to make them stand out.

Reproducible: Always

Example appearance of broken cross reference

The error message is styled the same way as the surrounding body text.

The issue is well-known; see URL.
Comment 3 Dieter 2025-11-30 17:55:37 UTC
Ulrich I agree, that actual situation should be improved. There are similar bugs: Bug 58920, bug 103822, bug 124933

Could you please decide, if it is a duplicate or not. If you think, it's not a duplicate, please specify, wht isn't covered by the other bug reports. Thank you.
