Description Eyal Rozenberg 2025-11-07 21:01:21 UTC
One sometimes uses a background image (or other filled object) for a Draw page. But - the image does not necessarily fit the page size. It would be nice if we could right-clock the background image and say "Size page to this image".

This could be made to work for just single objects, or for any selection of objects, based on its bounding rectangle.

Note: A small complication regards margins: When we ask for a resize, do we want the object to cover the entire page, or the page-area-within-the-margins? In my particular use case, I prefer the former, but I can imagine the latter making sense - an image which is not supposed to cover the margins but the effective page area. So, perhaps two separate commands? A command with parameters?

How different is this from bug 169324 (being a duplicate of bug 81118). Rhetorical question...

Quite different:

* Size page to fit entire drawing vs size page to fit one object
* The UI for bug 169324, whatever it ends up being, will never be a command on the context menu of a singl drawing object.

Now, you could say you're against this, but that doesn't make this report a dupe.
