Not sure if this is good platform to put forward suggestions: possibility to associate extentions with LibreOffice on Mac OS (from inside LibreOffice preferences). Maybe for all platforms.
Comment 1 Emerson Prado 2011-10-11 07:45:24 UTC
I back the request, for all platforms. I'm in Linux, and the lack of this option gives me way more work any time I want to open a file.
There are a number of situations where LO doesn't get or lose file associations so, IMHO, we users should be able to regain it when needed.

Hi Everyone,

I think that it will be useful if we could _set/unset_ *after
installation* (from Tools -> Options menu -> Load/Save -> ..., of course) the
following capabilities:
- LibreOffice file associations (both proprietary ones and Open Document ones);
- LibreOffice file "open with" list (in Windows Explorer, Gnome Nautilus, KDE Dolphin, MacOS X Finder (?), ...) for each file type for which LibreOffice has a ("good" or usable or...) filter.

What do you think about?

Have a nice day,

Carlo

So requested function looks in IrfanView

That will need separate programming for each OS?!

I often try different applications like Collabora Office and "mess up" the file associations. Going through the system settings is quite tedious and it would be desirable to reassign at least all ODF formats or all known formats like other tools do.

I suggest to add an option under Tools > General (or Tools > Load/Save) with

Check file associations: [Never/Every start/Now]
 (o) ODF documents
 ( ) All known formats

Now means to execute with Apply or Ok.
