The current StartCenter looks like a prompt to pick a document type to create, which is almost never what I want to do when I launch LibreOffice. I almost always launch LibreOffice to edit an existing document, and most often a document I've edited fairly recently. Making the StartCenter feature recent documents, with a secondary option to create a new one, would change it from an annoyance to something useful.
I noticed too late that the StartCenter actually does have a somewhat hidden recent documents menu, but bug #41777 still prevents it from being useful.
[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
No change in 3.5.0beta2
No change in 3.5.5.3, but thank you for fixing the additional bug that the Start Center would appear in front of (and hide) the document recovery window. I was going to suggest that document recovery be merged into the Start Center.
The problem of Start Center appearing in front of document recovery has returned, so I filed Bug #57987
It is the behavior of the StartCenter in the future LibreOffice 4.2. So closing as Fixed. Best regards. JBF
