Description Jack Nelson 2012-02-21 12:12:50 UTC
The update function in the Help Menu has an error: "The host name update.libreoffice.org could not be resolved."
Entering that URL into my browser also gives an error 403: Access Forbidden!
And trying to setup automatic update checking via "Options>Online Update>Check now" has the error "The host name update.libreoffice.org could not be resolved."

Probably this happens because there are no updates for 3.5.0, but there should be a more graceful outcome

[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.5.0 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 7e68ba2-a744ebf-1f241b7-c506db1-7d53735] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Works fine with "LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: e371a95-bf68a13-5a1aa2b-d3c1ae9-b938258] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), here I get message "Updates available" and clicking the download link leads to <http://de.libreoffice.org/download/> for my German version

I did not see the menu item in  "LOdev 3.6.0alpha0+  English UI/Locale [Build ID: aa7e105-b2dd236-9eed775-d06f752-4dba2d1 (libreoffice-3-5-branch-point)]"  {Win-x86@9-Voreppe Win32 pull time 2012-02-14 16:17:23}. OS: German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)  ?!

@Jan
Can you help?

Now at 3.5.1.2
I see apparent garbage in the proxy settings (grayed out, as I had System set as proxy setting). After switching to Manual, and cleaning out the random characters in the several proxy fields, then going back to either None or System, the problem seems to be solved.
So another way to see this bug: why does seemingly unused proxy data block the successful update check? Anyway, I found a workaround for my issue.

I experience that issue in slow connection, but that's not happen in fast connection (with cable).

LO 4.0.4.2 (Win7 32bit)

for me not reproducible with LO 4.3.2.2 (Win 8.1):
If I go to HELP -> CHECK FOR UPDATES I get no error message regarding the URL. Or is there a misunderstanding from my side?

Does this issue still persist for you or anybody else with the latest release of LO? Otherwise, we could maybe close this issue.
