Problem description: Slides originating from MS PowerPoint with "bitmap" (graphical file) backgrounds are displayed correctly when originally opened. When the user saves the file and chooses "Save as ODP format", the background styling is completely lost. Reopening the file shows slides with a blank background. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a .pptx file with slides containing a background image 2. Save the file in .odp format, then close it. 3. Open the .odp file you saved and note how the slides now have a default white background. Current behavior: - Background image is lost Expected behavior: - Background image is retained and visible in the .odp format as it was in the .pptx Operating System: Ubuntu Version: 3.6.2.2 release
Thanks for reporting! Is it possible to attach a sample pptx so we can reproduce this behavior (and determine this is a duplicate or not)? Therefore I mark this bug as NEEDINFO. Kind regards, Joren
Yes, will do. The slideshow that originally threw up this bug contains some commercially sensitive material so I need to strip out the contents first before posting it.

I think I reproduced the problem by creating a pptx file in LibreOffice. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create presentation with bitmap background as described on http://ditoinfo.wordpress.com/2007/09/28/custom-bitmap-background-on-openoffice-impress-2x 2. Save as .pptx 3. Close Impress 4. Open .pptx file (Bitmap Background exist as in "Created pptx with Background") 5. Save as .odp 6. Close Impress 7. Open .odp ("Saved as odp") What is: There is no created bitmap background but some default bitmap. What is expected: First slide in .odp file should have background as in screenshot "Created pptx with Background" I could not attach .pptx file it was to big (3,2MB)
Forgot to add: LibreOffice - 4.0.4.2 (Build ID: 9e9821abd0ffdbc09cd8c52eaa574fa09eb08f2) installed from deb packges OS - Ubuntu 12.04 32bit
same issue as Bug 63253. even if this is an earlier report I close this one since it lacks an attached source PPTX test file. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 63253 ***
