Steps to reproduce. 1. Create a slide in impress. 2. Press "ctrl+alt+c" keys. Comment box appears and default writing direction for that is LTR. No option to change default LTR writing direction to RTL.
Bug confirmed with 4.0.1.2, changing status to new.

Still happens in: Version: 5.4.2.2.0+ Build ID: 1:5.4.2-3~bpo9+1 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.9; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-US (en_US.utf8); Calc: group OS: Debian 64bit Stretch (Debian 9.2, with some backported packages) By the way, the character size in the Hebrew font being used in comments is very different from that used in the English font. I think that font selection and size for comments logically belongs to the View submenu, but I do not see how can it be easily discoverable by users.

Still no option to change writing direction from LTR to RTL. Font sizes in English and Hebrew are still very different. גרסה: 6.1.1.1 מזהה הבנייה: 1:6.1.1~rc1-2~bpo9+1 תהליכי משנה במעבד: 8; מערכת הפעלה: Linux 4.16; עיבוד מנשק: בררת מחדל; VCL: gtk2; מיקום: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded running under Debian Stretch: $ uname -a Linux c5 4.16.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.16.16-2~bpo9+1 (2018-06-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Not limited to Impress. Reproduced with 3.3.0 on Win 10.
Argh, apologies: this *is* limited to Impress as Writer has the toolbar buttons enabled.

The same in Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9fb3970a1a599eae2447f6746597843434ee758b CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 6.2; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: he-IL (ro_RO.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
Comment directionality has improved somewhat: As of 26.8, new Impress comments containing RTL text will be automatically formatted as RTL. This means it is at least possible to create RTL comments. However, at time of writing LTR is still the default, and we have no GUI for formatting Impress comments or manually changing the paragraph direction.

Should that perhaps be a different bug? ... and the comment appears on the top-left corner. I keep forgetting where we set the slide/page direction in Impress, grrr...
