This happens frequently to me with Impress. I will open or create a file. I modify the presentation in some way and either Save or "Save As" the file. The file seems to save, the progress bar moves across the screen, all seems well but LibreOffice then stalls and becomes unresponsive. I've waited many minutes (>5) hoping that the program would become reactive again so I can continue but the only option is to stop the program. When I restart LibreOffice I am given the option to recover the file. Sometimes the recovery works, sometimes not. Saving a file is such a basic operation. Can you please fix this?
Hi, Your report is missing some important information, so please answer the following questions: 1) Which Windows version are you using? 2) Are you trying to save to a network drive? 3) Do you have 'Embed fonts in the document' option activated? (It's located at File->Properties...->Font)
I am using Windows 7. I am saving to a folder under MyDocuments on my laptop hard drive. I do not have the "Embed Fonts in document" option activated.
@Richard Marchessault: Could you please run LibreOffice installation, choose 'Modify' and uncheck the installation of Windows Explorer extensions? Does it solve your problem?
Changed Version according to Bug 70228.
(In reply to comment #3) > @Richard Marchessault: Could you please run LibreOffice installation, choose > 'Modify' and uncheck the installation of Windows Explorer extensions? Does > it solve your problem? I followed your suggestion above. I was able to load an existing presentation in Impress and do a "Save As" to create a copy for modification. The save completed successfully and Impress was responsive after the save. This had failed when the same operation was attempted before following your suggestion. Time will tell if this really did solve the problem, since the problem has not been consistent in that sometimes that saves would work and other times they would not. I was not able to link the times that problems occurred to any particular operation that I was performing. The fail would sometimes happen when just a simple change such as adding word or two to a slide, and other times when doing something more complex such as adding a video. The same operations done at other times would have not issues with the save. The problem seems to be isolated to Impress and not other modules within Open Office. I will let you know if the problem occurs again.
Bug 68818 looks very similar to this bug. Both might be caused by the same cause as Bug 56007, so LO 4.1.4 might fix your problem. Also related: Bug 56035, Bug 68487.

It would appear that this did truly solve the problem. Thanks.
