Description Joshua Trees 2014-05-20 11:46:54 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

1. Apply a style to some text.
2. Open the Paragraph Style dialog.
3. Go to the Font Effects tab.
4. Select one of the following effects:
   - Outline
   - Shadow
   - Blinking
   - Hidden
5. Click Apply.
6. Unselect the effect from step 4.
7. Click Apply.

Result:

The paragraph style remains as it was after step five (e.g. outlined).

Expected result:

The paragraph style should have reverted back to it's state from step 1.

Additional notes.

I'm running LibreOffice on Linux Mint but presume this bug affects all platforms.

Bascially invalid since in 4.2.4.2 menus have changed quite a big.

Please always check you are using the latest LO version. Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest LO release? Currently 4.2.4: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

For me the menu is called "format > character..." then "font effects".

I do not see an "apply" button. Only "ok" "cancle "help" "reset".

So this issue is solved. Marking worksforme.

I think your assessment is based on a misunderstanding. The Character dialog you refer to is not the same as the Paragraph Style dialog I mentioned. However, I didn't make it very clear in my original post on how to open the dialog.

Here are two ways I commonly use to get there:

* Select some text in the paragraph you are interested in, then right click and select "Edit Paragraph Style..."
* Alternatively: Open the "Styles and Formatting" pane (F11 or Format > Styles and Formatting), then right click on the respective paragraph style and choose "Modify..."

I was able to reproduce this bug on a different machine running LibreOffice 4.2.4.2 on Windows.

Hi, I reproduce the bug with version 4.2.4.2 on Ubuntu 14.04.
It seems that it's removing of the effect that doesn't work. For example if I apply one sort of the strikethrough, I can apply another one, but I can't revert it to (none), it doesn't apply.

This bug is still present in LibreOffice 4.4.4.3.

It seems the root cause of this issue was inherited from OpenOffice.org. The buttons are somewhat different in version 3.3.0.4 of LibreOffice. Instead of an Apply button there is a Reset button. However, after applying an effect and clicking on the Reset button, only the checkbox for the applied effect gets cleared, the preview remains unchanged.

This sounds exactly like bugs 66152 and 88432 which are fixed since version 5.1.1.2, maybe earlier.

According to my bibisect-linux-51 this was fixed in the range

https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?id=4f918cd5daed963287805da761e6983a392ae050&qt=range&q=240d1f289c5788845cd4336f223f2c4bc8975a99..4f918cd5daed963287805da761e6983a392ae050

and almost certainly by the fix for bug 93901.
