Please do not describe the bug in the bug title - make the bug title succinct and give reproducible steps along with observed/expected behavior. Also include information about your OS and LibreOffice.

Marking as NEEDINFO - once you do the above mark as UNCONFIRMED. Thanks

UX -- something for y'all to figure out :-)

Copy with / without format is really needed, in both cases when copy/paste or dragging cells across is used.
It's quite annoying when you have change the format back if you just want to have the contents copied.
And please consider to give a choice for copying conditional formattings or not, as well.
Comment 6 Regina Henschel 2015-08-13 10:25:21 UTC
You find these options -and a lot more- in "Paste special". You can access "Paste special" from context menu, via ctrl+shift+V or via menu Edit. Do not expect, that different applications have all tools at the same place.

Believe the concern of OP is that there is not a concise GUI widget associated with a selected cell range to manipulate the fill options.

Suggest addition of the menu Fill split button to the Context menu for selected range is a reasonable and simple enhancement.

Paste Special takes care of any copy requirements. But a Fill of block or series *with or without formatting* is an issue. The fill currently takes direct formatting of the originating selection and overrides cell style. Do not have a way to control that.

In addition to adding the Fill split button to the context men, suggest we would need a way to toggle the fill action (by block or series) without formatting--similar to what is implemented for Paste Special.

The requested enhancement is a floating menu for the autofill function (enter 1,2,3 in adjacent cells, select them, and extend the selection with the mouse). We do not use this type of interaction with floating 'options buttons' (also known in MS Office for paste special and direct formatting) but we have the functionality per keyboard modifier (like in Excel). With ctrl being pressed the series is copied instead of extended => WFM.

We talked about the idea of floating menus in general and decided to keep it alive. Removing needsUXadvice until someone is interested in the implementation.

Suggestion to resolve this (from https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114970#c4) :

Shift key will be great!

That way you can add even more combinations.
-Shift key in addition to autofill selection (for ascending values) to keep original formating
-Ctrl+autofill selection (for identical values)
+Shift+Ctrl+autofill - keep original formatting and for identical values

Description:
In Excel, the user can autofill data only, formatting only, equations only, etc. by right-click dragging. Until LibreOffice has this same functionality, I cannot use it.
