Description ayca.yassi 2018-11-12 07:05:13 UTC
Description:
When we want to print, the default paper size is letter. But the local printer settings have the paper size A4 default.

If we want to change it, in the document we should go to the printer settings, change and return to print.
We save it but it didnt remember the settings. Everytime we open any documents, we encounter to this problem.

There is no problem in Libre Office writer, we see this problem in Calc 6.0.6 and 6.1.3 version.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to printer setting
2.Change paper size to A4
3.Go to print
4.Save and exit
5.Reopen the document
6.Print

Actual Results:
We see letter paper size.

Expected Results:
we should see A4 paper size.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Please clarify.
"1.Go to printer setting" is it File ▸ Printer Settings ▸ (Printer) Properties OR File ▸ Print ▸ (Printer) Properties?
Is this a duplicate of Bug 98114 or bug 92676?
Comment 2 ayca.yassi 2018-11-12 10:19:53 UTC
For reproduce: printer setting because print>properties does not allow change
Comment 3 Xavier Van Wijmeersch 2018-11-12 17:52:58 UTC
no repro
OS?? because I have no problem with printing on A4 format

1 print options ==> LO?? or
2 printer options from OS installation??

I reproduce in 6.2+ like this in Windows with virtual printer:
1. open Calc, add some data and set Format-Page-Paper Format as Letter
2. open File-Printer Settings-(Printer) Properties and set page as A4
3. go to File-Print and print

Actual Results: I see letter paper size.
Expected Results: we should see A4 paper size.

I didn't understand why you have steps: save, exit, reopen, print again.
Also, I don't see a purpose of this bug with real paper printer, because it will adjust Letter to A4 and print.
Can you please explain what exactly you expect.
Comment 5 ayca.yassi 2018-11-13 13:35:41 UTC
Yes, this what we want. But if we can save, we can have a workaround for the issue or there will be an explanation for the function.

I don't understand what you say.
If you read https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92676#c5 :

By default the printer settings (such as page size) are taken from the printer settings stored in the document (File ▸ Printer Settings ▸ Properties), not the Printer Properties (File ▸ Print ▸ Properties).
To use the settings from the Printer Properties (previous behaviour), click the new "Use only paper size from printer preferences" checkbox on the "Options" tab.

If you tick "Use only paper size from printer preferences", paper will be A4.

I am moving this to NOTABUG unless there is further information provided by RP. Seems like this is a user error (no offense, just that LibreOffice is working as expected, you're just not super familiar with the settings).

Please try the settings, if that doesn't work, please then go to the user mailing list or ask.libreoffice.org with questions. If you still are convinced this is a bug, please provide the following:

(1) Is this a new problem (a regression) or did it behave the same way in the 5.x series (or even older)?
(2) Please provide any additional information you get from the user threads.

Hello,

We can not find such property.

So we tried a workaround.

We changed a blank page format letter to A4, than save it to a new template and it was selected default.

So new documents will be A4 format and will be writen properly.
