Description mike.hall 2011-02-05 13:18:57 UTC
Please consider adding to the Export as PDF dialogue a further option, with a drop-down selection box of the defined custom slide shows.

The custom slide show is an excellent facility (though the interface could be improved!) and it would be good to complement it with the ability to create a PDF from the selection of slides defined by a custom slide show. This would be a major benefit to those using this option. The work around of specifying the pages is error prone and a lot of work, particularly for a large presentation.

I'm guessing it's not a particularly difficult task, so maybe it might be added to the list of simple hacks? All that seems to be needed is to extract the list of slide numbers from the selected custom slide show and use the interface to put these into the 'pages' list.

I believe that would be an useful feature.

If you simply write something like "Bug 33982" in the Comment text you get a link to Bugs that seem to be related in a very simple way.

Think so, too! I started use of brackets to distinguish those key words in comments from casual use of the same word or in Subject as a substitution for missing "Subcomponent" picker. But a limitation to 1 such key word seems to be recommended.

Still a desired minor enhancement. Not in 3.5.0b3 so status changed back to NEW.

Thanks.

The solution:
In option "Custom Slide Show", in the New or edit dialog, you could add two buttons for change the property Show/Hide presentation:
Button "Show": all slides of custom group will be show in the presentatio
Button "Hide": all slide of custom group will be hide in the presentation

Then, if you like, in the general view you could select all slides and mark Hide, go to Custom Slide Show option and mark slides in group for Show.

Then you could print to pdf only group (print visible slides).

Other solution
Add two buttons in the edit window of a custom slide show, one to Show all the slides of the group and another to Hide all slides in the group.

Now you can hide all the slides of the file and only show a group or hide a group.

Once hidden we do not want to, we can print the visible slides in pdf.

Hi,
I tried to do something during the holidays, after much thought and reading possibilities even try to add something to the source code.

I think the best solution is:
1. - Do NOT ADD a new dialogue option "Custom Slide Show ..." or "Print ..." or "Export as PDF ..."
2. - Yes use the checkbox "Use Custom Slide Show" already in the dialogue "Custom Slide Show ..." when exporting to PDF or print.

In the same way that when you start the presentation, if selected the checkbox "Use Custom Slide Show" order and slides are the choice, in the same way the print or export function should use that checkbox.

Thanks.

@gmolleda
Thanks. Your suggestion looks good to me. Any chance of making progress implementing it?

No, I'm sorry.
I am very busy with work and family.

The option for hide or show a defined custom group is the best choice because too could be used for create presentations in PDF with plugin ExpandAnimations that now I use (best compatibility with other computers):

ufff, the English is difficult and discriminatory, Esperanto is better for international communications:

Ne, mi bedaŭras.
Mi estas tre okupita kun laboro kaj familio.

La opcio por montri aŭ kaŝi grupo de diapozitivoj estas la plej bona elekto ĉar ĝi povus ankaŭ esti uzita por krei prezentojn en PDF kun la kromprogramo ExpandAnimations ke nun mi uzas (bona kongruo kun aliaj komputiloj).

For me, this would be an immensely useful feature.

Sound like a neat feature to have.
