Description theo.c 2011-09-01 11:55:37 UTC
When typing in a box with the "Word wrap text in shape" option selected the text will word wrap fine.

However, as soon as the text is selected and a hyperlink is inserted the text will overflow the box.

Comment 3 theo.c 2012-01-05 02:57:46 UTC
This is also still an issue in 3.5.0 beta2
Comment 4 A (Andy) 2013-04-20 22:20:22 UTC
not reproducible with LO 4.0.2.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit)

Does this issue still persist for you with the latest release of LO? If not, then I would propose to close this bug report.
Comment 5 Urmas 2013-04-21 10:20:03 UTC
With the latest version hyperlinks are still not wrapped when editing text in a shape.
Comment 6 theo.c 2013-04-22 10:20:44 UTC
Version 4.0.2.2 OSX will now wrap the text, but as Urmas states while editing the text it does not wrap.

The vertical alignment is also different if the text is a hyperlink vs normal text. The first line of the hyperlink starts in the centre, and the second line sits lower down. Whereas on normal text it will be centered around both lines

Please, attach a test file demonstrating the offending behavior.

Perhaps related to bug 39910, see comment 7:
LO never wraps internet-links. Not only Calc, but other modules too.

Problem still exists in LO 6.2.3.2 (on Arch Linux), see today's screenshot.

This is also very annoying in bibliography slides in LO Impress.
Comment 15 Sebastian 2020-03-18 10:46:30 UTC
Still present in LO 6.3.5.2. The bug affects word wrapping and hyphenation. I thinks formating does not work for hyperlink text at all.
I think this should be marked as confirmed by now sicne it was reported 9 years ago.

It is not exactly correct. The links are wrapped in Writer.

The problem here is that EditEngine in LibreOffice does not wrap *fields*. Which is a pity: the fields *can* be wrapped: see e.g. Writer (using a different layout engine) also wrapping date fields, when they contain spaces (like using "NNNND MMMM, YYYY" format). I mention the date field here, because it is a true field in Writer, unlike URLs, which *in Writer* are just a character-level formatting, unlike in other modules.

This is more relevant to Calc's bug 39910, even though the issue might be linked.

See attached ODP that compares wrapping of non-hyperlinked vs hyperlinked text.

Still reproduced in recent master build:

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

Calc: threaded

Questions for, well, everyone:

1. If the problem is in the wrapping of fields, shouldn't this bug be about wrapping any field while it is being edited? Or would that be a different bug?

2. Are the related bugs not dupes of this one?
