It is because window is too narrow.
(we see some empty place in status bar, but try insert table into document and in status bar will no empty place)

Zoom indicator obscured on the status bar in LibreOffice
Comment 6 Eltomito 2012-08-06 11:23:50 UTC
This problem annoys me, too.
First, the zoom indicator disappears when there is still space for it on the status bar (see attached screenshot).
And second, it would be great if I could customize the status bar to put things I need and leave out stuff I never use anyway. That would be fantastic.

See comment 1 and comment 3

It is good idea. Thanks for it. But it would be better to place it in separate bugreport.

I confirm this on Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7)
Win7 32bits

You could perhaps use the "Zoom" button on "Display - tool bar - standard (2).

Yves.

Also confirmed under Linux and Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7).
Note: it's only under Writer, on Calc the status bar is correctly resized when you narrow the window and each field is correctly shown.
Kind regards - Sophie

OS X 10.10.3 confirmed, thus hardware > "All".

Part of this was fixed in bug 86018. In order for the zoom controls to never disappear, we would need to have a mechanism to hide statusbar elements based on a particular priority during resizing.

This has been implemented now.
