1. Open a new spreadsheet window (Ctrl-N). 2. In the first cell, type something like: Link to http://www.example.com 3. Press Enter. The text "http://www.example.com" will be highlighted as a hyperlink, but the text "Link to" won't be. This is OK so far. 4. Save the file as ODS and as Excel 2007/2010 XLSX. 5. Close the spreadsheet window. 6. Reopen both files in LO Calc. The ODS file will look the same as it did before it was saved. The problem is that, in the XLSX file, the entire cell contents "Link to http://www.example.com", not just the URL, are now a hyperlink. Tested on Ubuntu Linux 32-bit with LibreOffice 3.6.6.2.
The same problem occurs when saving & reloading an XLS (Excel 97/2000/XP/2003).

Reproducible with LibreOffice 4.4.3.0.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 14.10 Because the hyperlink is correct, only its formatting is wrong in xlsx format, set importance to low/minor. Note: this bug report has not been confirmed independently before its status has been set to NEW. Please do not set your own bug report to new. Best regards. JBF

Still reproducible in LO 5.1.4.0.0+ and master, both build at home under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64. Best regards. JBF

A sane sounding proposal from the duplicate bug #112325 : It would be nice if a configuration option is introduced that allows to only add one hyper-link into a Cell for a specific spread sheet file.

still reproducible in: Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 3752e8eaa81a50b018669d03dc59b3753a5248ef CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded ... for both XLSX and XLS.
Created attachment 183325 [details] xlsHyperlinkPerCell-crop.png: Excel 2003 screenshot for insert hyperlink which is disabled for character properties and only active when the cell is selected This is a limitation of the XLS/X format IIUC. So then this is not a bug really. About the only actionable item I can see would be to implement Gabor's suggestion in comment 10 - to add a UI option that prevents inserting multiple hyperlinks when the file format is already in XLS/X format.
(In reply to Justin L from comment #14) > About the only actionable item I can see would be to implement Gabor's > suggestion in comment 10 - to add a UI option that prevents inserting > multiple hyperlinks when the file format is already in XLS/X format. This has been done in LO 24.2 thanks to bug 156611.
Still an issue in Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: ro-RO (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
