LibreOffice Package: libreoffice 1:4.1.2~rc3-0ubuntu1 Libre Office Version: 4.1.2.3 Build ID: 410m0(Build:3) System: Xubuntu 13.10, 32 bit, fully patched -- LibreOffice Writer > Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Comparison Under the heading "Settings" on this panel, the user is given the option to tick "Use RSID". However, it is unclear what RSID actually is and does. There is no mouse-over information pop-up on the panel. And RSID is not defined in LibreOffice Help.
Indeed, related help is missing. Best regards. JBF
The use of RSIDs is explained here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brian_jones/archive/2006/12/11/what-s-up-with-all-those-rsids.aspx I did not check, if the function works as described in that blog. Furthermore for me it is not clear, how the comparison works, if "Auto" is checked. And also the meaning of the option "Ignore pieces of length" should be described.

Meanwhile the option "Use RSID" is no longer available in version 5.2.1. Instead other options respective to random mumbers are introduced in the Comparison dialogue. These options are still not documented in the help and hence there are still unclear. Summary adapted to changed dialogue. The Comparison dialogue was introduced in version 3.6.0. Hence Version set 3.6.0.

working with LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.0. I see html help files for most of the 'Document Version Control' for Writer and Calc. help/en-US/text/shared/guide/redlining*.html help/en-US/text/shared/01/02230?0?.html Missing is documention for LibreOffice Writer > Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Comparison. Also needed is some work on keyword (bookmark_value) search values 'comparison' returns comparisons -- operators in Calc comparisons -- document versions (good) 'record' returns records -- saving recording -- macros recording -- changes (add 'document') 'merg' returns mail merge cell merges merging -- cells cell merges merging -- cells merging -- indexes merging -- tables merging -- documents (change to 'changed documents') 'merge' returns nothing about document versions tracking If OK, I will Assign this bug to myself, create and commit changes.
