I would love to be able to use Presenter Console also without a second monitor attached. I can't always have one (at home, just to say one) just to practice my speech. I guess it could be in a tab like normal/structure/print... Thank you Operating System: Windows 7 Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
This is an enhancement request - and yes, I see the point. What I usually do (this is for Linux): Run Xnest like this: Xnest -scrns 2 -ac :1 Or run Xephyr like this: Xephyr -br +xinerama -screen 1024x768 -origin 1024,0 -screen 640x480+1024+0 :1 -ac (and then in a shell export DISPLAY=:1.0; ooffice --impress for both cases) No idea if a similar multi-screen emulation exists for Windows.
Marking as NEW as Thorsten has already said it's an enhancement request and understands the point. Leaving priority, seems appropriate. @Thorsten - this a potential easy hack?
Also marking as ALL for platforms, seems like it's not platform specific
(In reply to comment #2) > @Thorsten - this a potential easy hack? > More in the sense to look broader for acceptable workarounds - the feature itself is a bit more involved, if implemented inside LibO...

I marked bug 122493 as a duplicate of bug 62179, provided that Rehersal timing is made to look the same as presenter console with Notes. That solution would satisfy both requests.
I wouldn't put too much effort in display management. PIP is up to the software/driver (see c1) and not the office suite. => out of scope
You can use the macro in https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121873 to use the presenter console with a single monitor.
Macro is a nice WFM solution.
I disagree that some external solution (that majority of users are not aware of) is a final one. please do not close this bug. Many users need this one and closing makes no favor to anyone.
That is not an "external solution" but only shortened way to switch the settings. The setting itself is property "StartAlways" in org.openoffice.Office.PresenterScreen in 'Expert Configuration' in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced.
No way that LO user is aware of some macro on apache.org. So no way to call this WFM because a handful of LO activists can use if for themselves. Only solution is to have this built-in, so that average user, with due consideration, can use it.
*** Bug 132337 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Disagree that bug 132337 is a duplicate of this bug. In fact, it's precisely the opposite use-case (this bug 62179 requests presenter view on one monitor; that feature request 132337 desires audience view on one monitor, with separately exported presenter notes text script). I've un-marked bug 132337 as a duplicate of this bug.
With StartAlways set "true" per Comment 12, Rehearse Timings opens Presenter Console, now with new Pause/Resume buttons. Presenter console becomes main screen but Alt+Tab shows also other presentation screen. Usually, with StartAlways false, Rehearse Timings is of little value, it only has clock. Seems that fine solution in this bug would be to start Rehearse Timings with StartAlways set true.
*** Bug 134943 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug is very simple, just to set "StartAlways" to True by default, and user would have full control of either behavior (as now or as Console). But prerequisite is bug 135089 so that configuration/settting of Presenter Console in Slide Show Setting is more obvious than now in Tools-Options.
Rehearsal timing is a special feature, no need for the console.
This bug is on my "high priority" list. Because it's cumbersome to advise users to run some macro file to use Presenter Console with a single monitor, or to go to Advanced setting for that. MSO has simple checkbox and also shortcut Alt+F5 and LO should also. Another aspect of this bug is video conferencing. If you have a single monitor, as a majority of users, you will want to simply use Impress with Presenter Console. You could maybe use Edit mode, but you don't see Notes then.
With bug 92717 and bug 33495 fixed in LO 7.5, can we mark this one as fixed too? It is now possible to have the presenter console windowed, and therefore have both presentation and console in the same screen. Relevant commit: 9db4f60bfc5aa90a9062e429a07889b60ae99e9c
Those bugs make Console better, while this one is to start Console easily. New.
This was fixed in bug 92717. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 92717 ***
This was not fixed in bug 92717. Bug 92717 is only to share Presentation, not to use Presenter Console. Console may be made usable in bug 135089.
I checked 135089. It is an improvement, Console can be started more easy. For some reason, Console starts when set to Windowed, but not when default set to Full Screen. Window size and position are not remembered. So we have 3 windows: preesntation file, presenting full screen and Console limited to be windowed. But that is not a full replacment for this bug : "Start Presenter Console also with only one monitor with Alt+F5 (as Rehearse Timings)" For more reasons: - current Rehearse Timings is inferior to Console and this of no use - it is better to have shortcut, and Alt+F5 is known from MSO - if this would work, presenting full screen would not be needed, so less stress on a system
OK, back to new then. Might have to move some duplicates, but as I'm not 100% sure of the use case, can you please check, Timur?
Those duplicates here are either of this one or those two already resolved, so I did not move.
