This is a Meta Bug to collect Bugs concerning useless error messages. 
To add a problem here please insert the Bug No of the original Bug report in "Depends on:" and please leave a short comment here.
In the original reports please attach screenshots and suggestions what additional information you expect.

Assigned to me for now, may be someone wants to take over?

Nominate: Bug 34695 - Contribute concrete hints concerning problems with document instead of "General Error".
We already had a good solution in OOo 1.1.4

Not sure if meta bugs are so useful if the only include a hand full of bugs. Why not include "ErrorMessage" in the bug description? Then anybody working on that can display all bugs in the browser, and do a browser search for "ErrorMessage".

Not sure if finding the meta ticket is any faster than that.

IMHO it is more about bugs management than search speed. If you have many bugs with dependencies (like this one for example https://bugs.freedesktop.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=54157&hide_resolved=0) this can help developers to fix them one by one starting at the lowest level of the dependency tree.
