Created attachment 118571 [details] Language options setting screen. Note the dialog buttons. I'm seeing issues on a PC I manage where one user is experiencing multiple interface languages. The menu bar and most dialog messages are in English (their selected language both for Libreoffice and Windows), dialog buttons are in Spanish. Right click menus appear to be Chinese. The user has reported seeing elements in French and Portuguese as well as other Asian languages. Multiple languages appear at the same time in different areas of the program. The problem persists across all instances of Libreoffice (Loader / Writer / Calc). Attached is a screenshot of their "Tools->Options->Languages" screen as currently set. Note the dialog buttons. "English (USA)" is the selected language for Windows, and the only language pack installed.
Did this user download LO installer from the official website or from other website? What the MS-Windows version? LibreOffice 5.0.2 has been released, did he install it and did that solve the problem? Best regards. JBF
*** Bug 100208 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
My Bug 100208 was resolved as a duplicate of Bug 96942, but I think those are both duplicates of this one. As shown in the attachment 125472 [details], there are at least 3 UI languages in the same dialog in Writer 5.0.6: English, Bosnian, and some unknown. In a "better" case, there are 2 languages mixed: English, Bosnian. UI languages are also mixed on right click as shown in the attachment 125507 [details]. Installation was a centralized upgrade to dozen of various Windows computers (XP, 7, 10) from LO 5.0.5 to LO 5.0.6. Only some have this problem. Deleting profile doesn't help. LO Program Files on a computer with this problem is different from another one which is fine, but due to different language and extension settings it's not obvious which files are the culprits.
Manual and remote reinstallation of LO on one of those computers both fixed the UI language issue. It's still a problem because you don't know that it's wrong and where. Any why this happens.
Timur, would it be possible to create CRC32 checksums of the installed LibreOffice files on a machine with corrupted install? Then it would be possible to identify the files that aren't what they should be (assuming the problem is with the installed files, I can't think of anything else at the moment). This Wikipedia page has some basic info on file verification with links to different software that can do the job: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_file_verification (I use QuickSFV, it's old, but works)
Aron, maybe I could do it with RapidCRC, but how, per folder? What then, it's hundreds of checksum.sfv files. And as I wrote, there will be differences due to language and extension settings.
Yes, RapidCRC seems to be good, I just created one SFV of my whole LibreOffice folder. You just drop LibreOffice 5 folder onto it, and it'll process all subfolders. Make sure in Options you check "Include file information comments", which adds file details (what we need: size) in comments. Please do it once for a working and non-working install you came across, those should have the same files. But if there are some expected differences, it's fine. Most importantly, the files that are in both should be the same. They'll be big (one LO SFV was 5 MB for me), so attach the files zipped, I'll analyze them. There's very little chance to find out more about this issue otherwise, so it's worth the effort IMO. Thanks!
Created attachment 125552 [details] LibreOffice 5.sfv with wrong UI language I'm not enthusiastic for that method but here is single SFV. I didn't see the option for file size. In my case problem appeared after an upgrade from 5.0.5 to 5.0.6. I think that fix needed an uninstalation prior reinstallation.
Created attachment 125894 [details] Diff of SFVs Thanks for providing the SFV, and sorry about the late reply. I made an install with very similar settings, created an SFV of it, sorted both, and compared them. I'm attaching the diff. To be honest, I can't really make anything useful out of it at first sight. The __pycache__ stuff seem to be irrelevant, the GB/ZA .res files missing also seem to be irrelevant (probably the few US ones, too), and the few remaining minor differences as well. Note that the only file with a difference existing in both installs is setup.ini, and that can't be relevant, either. In the end, since deleting profiles didn't fix the issue, I can't imagine where else the problem might lie.

Complete uninstall, profile removal, cleaned registry and then clean install of LO fixed issue for me. Still I have no idea what caused it. I did not experience the issue during 5.0.* upgrades, only after upgrade to 5.1.* as it is described in duplicate bug report no 100955.
(In reply to Timur from comment #3) > Installation was a centralized upgrade to dozen of various Windows computers > (XP, 7, 10) from LO 5.0.5 to LO 5.0.6. Hi Timur, It was good to talk today. I was not on the CC list of this bug, so I'm innocent in not dealing with it. :) First of all, I need the command line you used for deployment, I guess UI_LANGS property was used. But as usual, the bug must be reproducible in my test environment, otherwise I must think it was caused by cosmic radiation. Thanks! Andras

This may be just the result of corrupt installation, in which case it's related to Bug 97982.
Created attachment 128406 [details] LibreOffice 5.1 with UI problem - verbose install log.7z Same issue from 5.0 again with 5.1. Here is also verbose install log. Apart from fonts issue mentioned here, other problems include non-working "Save As...", "Save a Copy", "Export" menus. It may hint to corrupted installation, but why?
Created attachment 132509 [details] german strings in Scottish Gaelic interface I have the same problem. Version: 5.3.1.2 (x64) Build ID: e80a0e0fd1875e1696614d24c32df0f95f03deb2 CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Windows 6.1; UI Rendering: Default; Design engine:new; Locale: gd-GB (gd_GB); Calc: group Windows 7 with gd_GB locale, but German as operating system language. The higlighted strings in the screenshot are in German. Only the File menu seems to be affected, I am getting the bug in Calc as well. I think it was already here in the previous version of LibreOffice. It's not an issue with the translation since a friend of mine is running this on Windows 10 with 100% translation.

I am actually not sure right now that my particular case is a bug - since German has a higher locale coverage than Scottish Gaelic and my Windows originally came shipped in German, it's probably just a case of LibreOffice grabbing a backup locale defined by the operating system.
Dear Chris, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! This bug cannot be retested, it just happens on installation.
Changing priority to 'high' since the number of duplicates is higher than 5 or the number of people in CC higher than 20

Per dupes it is not Windows-only
Good notice. But, I think we should keep this one Win and split Lin. All other bugs marked as WFM are most likely just duplicates. Because, it's not a fix in LO that solved the issue, but repeated installation. So I'll mark.

(In reply to Timur from comment #22) > This bug cannot be retested, it just happens on installation. .. so "please retest" is not possible. We can keep this open in case it happens to someone who will make another report. I set Low priority because there are no steps nor explanation so not actionable.
