The PDF editing capability of Draw is greatly appreciated by the users. However, bugs and restrictions spoil the party.
@Heiko, * I know it is splitting hairs, but we do not and can not "edit" a PDF. We can filter import it for use in Draw (default), Writer, or Impress and we can filter export (or Print) to PDF. We'd like to have a filter to directly insert a single PDF document as if an image (bug 89727); or edit the text strings pulled from PDF as paragraphs (bug 32249) etc. but we can not "edit" a PDF. Adjusting the summary to reflect that we will always be filtering PDF for import and export.
Good to add this, but ordinary users would be confused by not *editing* a file but "filtering" the input. Anyway, thanks for keeping an eye on it.
Miklos V. has just implemented PDF import filter allowing PDF insert as image capability on current master (5.3.0alpha0+). Please check it out--gerrit links posted in bug 89727.

A quick look at rotated text (bug 58173), font style (bug 78427), footer (bug 82093), and symbol font (bug 84690) shows not difference.

Just closed bug 58173 as WFM at least as of the 5.2.0.1 build. Otherwise, would expect no change based on this long requested capability--to insert a single PDF as an image (and then "Break" it apart)--bug 89727 and a nice step forward in treating PDF as any other image source.

Are we sure that all bugs blocking this one are Impress/Draw-specific? A cursory inspection suggests some of them regard the import filters for both Impress/Draw and Writer. Should we, perhaps, create a common "PDF-Import-Filters" ancestor meta-bug, and hang some of the specific bugs onto that one?

Created attachment 195882 [details] Able to edit PDFs on Dell eXP 13 9370 with Draw v7.3.4.2 I am running v7.3.4.2 on my old laptop, a Dells XPS 13 9370 with Win 11 Home, and do not have any additional fonts, editing or graphics applications. I have been using Libre Office for about 9 years, and been able to edit text on PDFs with this version and all prior versions.
Created attachment 195883 [details] Unable to edit PDF text with v24.2.5 I have provided an attachment that displays how I can edit PDF text with Draw on my current laptop. I just installed v25.2.5 on my other laptop, and am unable to edit PDF text.
I have posted some screenshots to display what I am experiencing with trying to changing text with Draw 24.2.5. I have confirmed that Edit Mode is enabled. I am an ordinary user and frequently use the "edit" PDF function when sending rental agreements to guests of my vacation rentals. I have a mini-PC which I use only for streaming, and will install Draw on it to see if I have the same experience.
